A multi-tiered cascade in the Chattahoochee National Forest reached by a steep trail from the Richard Russell Scenic Byway near Helen.

Dukes Creek Falls is a multi-tiered cascade in the Chattahoochee National Forest's Blue Ridge Ranger District, reached from a Forest Service trailhead on the Richard Russell Scenic Byway near Helen. The Forest Service describes a 1.25-mile trail, one way, from the parking area to a second observation deck above the falls, including a short accessible deck near the trailhead for visitors with mobility challenges. Georgia State Parks separately documents a roughly 1-mile route to the falls from the cottages at adjoining Smithgall Woods. We did not find an official height figure on either agency's page, so treat widely cited numbers with some caution.

A day-use pass is required at the Forest Service trailhead (1699 Richard Russell Scenic Hwy, Helen, GA), open sunrise to sunset; check current pricing on Recreation.gov before arriving. The Richard Russell Scenic Byway can close during winter weather, so confirm road status with the forest ahead of a cold-season visit. At review there were no alerts specific to Dukes Creek Falls on the forest's current alerts page, but trail and overlook conditions change quickly after rain, so check current forest alerts and byway status before heading out.
